Yallourn Madrigal Singers
Making a difference in the lives of our singers, our audience, and our community through the power and beauty of choral singing.
History
After a few years, Val Pyers moved to Melbourne and soon founded the Melbourne Chorale, and later, the Victoria Chorale. Graham Bartle also moved to Melbourne and went on to have a distinguished international career as a music educator. The second Music Director, David Davies, a former chorister, then led the choir for the next 25 years.
The town of Yallourn no longer exists; it was closed and removed in the 1980's to allow for expansion of the nearby open-cut mine.
The tradition of fine choral singing has continued, with the choir now based at St. James Church, Grey Street, Traralgon.
